Default Oil on top engine....Checked the obvious things.

Ok, so the car runs great but is still leaking oil under the volvo engine cover by the spark plugs. PCV has been done and no smoke from the dipstick, new oil cap gasket, top pcv hose has been siliconed on with no leaks, all of the bolts on top of the engine are siliconed, the only thing I can come up with is that oil is leaking from under the valve cover and blowing up. Did the head gasket and may not have sealed it correctly but I just can't tell. Oh, that other hole on top the engine is blocked to. Any ideas? The oil starts collecting towards the middle and spreads out from there. Any input is much appreciated!

Have seen cracked valve covers. Use dye and a UV light to rule this out. Also check the oil cap gasket. The hole on the top that is blocked is a boss when it was cast. If the valve cover gasket was leaking you would have all spark plug wells filled with oil usually.

Oil cap may be worn.

Default oil

I replaced the oil cap gasket a week ago. Wouldn't I be able to see a crack and wouldnt I see oil while running? Wouldn't that cause a vacuum leak?

Oil cap, not the gasket.

oh, sorry guys I got it. That is possible I will try a new cap and see. I have noticed that when unscrewing the cap there is oil around the edge where the gasket sits. Didn't think it should be there.
