Checked plugs: cyl2 flooded with oil
My wife was complaining about the smell of the engine combustion, and since I was using NGK Iridiums with about 20000 miles I bought cheap Bosch copper plugs and installed them. When I removed the NGK from cylinder 2 (counting from the t-belt), it was absolutely soaked in oil. The rest of the plugs seemed to be reasonable ok. That would probably explain blue smoke and bad combustion. What should I do? Compression test? I guess piston 2 or rings on 2 are bad, right?
The spark plug hole was clean. The top of the plug (connection to the plug wire boots) was clean. The part of the plug where the spark is generated was soaked in oil, like if it had been dropped in an oil can.
The top of the spark plug cover is full of oil, but I don´t think that much oil can come from there? Tech, are you thinking this is a side effect from the clogged PCV?

Yes possibly. If the hole was full of oil then when you pulled the plug out it would have soaked the plug with the oil.
I would fix the vent system and reinspect the plug.

Tech,
The car is workingMUCH better with these new plugs. I´ll check out the plugs again this week end. Regarding the PCV I am waiting for somebody to travel to the US and bring the parts for me. I REFUSE to pay five times the cost of the parts to the local Volvo rapist. Thanks for your help.

Update: I have checked the plug number 2 and it is soaked with oil again. The fumes from the exhaust are blue and smelly again. The oil is coming from the oil filler neck. I definitely have to take care of the PCV system ASAP. Thanks for the help once more.

BTW, you may know, but Tech will be out for a while. See Off-topic section on his post, in case if you hadn't noticed yet.
PCV, and if it were my car, I would definitely do compression test. Couldn't you get parts from FCP Groton
? I know they ship to Japan.Wish you the best of luck resolving the problem, and stay away from rapership/murdership/stealership/liarship[8D].

JPN,
The plug was totally soaked with oil and the area under the spark plug cover was full of oil. The car burns so much oil that I think my mpg is in oil, not gasoline
If the problem is not solved by servicing the PCV I will definitely do a compression test.
