Exclamation Overfilled oil.

Hello, Yesterday i did the oil change and filter on my 95 850 NA, and it was at ok levels, i let it sit all night and this morning is a bit over the max, should I drain a bit? I never know if I should get the engine warm and the check it or check it when is cold. What do you usually do? Thanks in advance. Also i use liquimoly MoS2 10w40 someone told me it was the best for this car, is that true?

Over filling does as much harm as under filling and can cause extra strain on seals causing them to leak.

If it was my car I would drain a bit out using a vacuum extractor pump. My method is to check when cold (leave overnight) and keep the level 1-2mm below the top mark. This allows for a slight expansion when hot.

Or if you are worried about it, take the oil filter off and dump the oil out of it. How much oil did you originally put in?

Make 100% sure you are on level ground .

If it is confirmed overfilled, use a transfer pump (can be obtained cheaply if needed) and take just a bit out through the dipstick.

As far as the "best" oil, that is up for debate. I have always used Mobil 1 10w30 or 5w30 and Mobil 1 ATF in the transmission and steering rack in my 96 850 turbo.

Good luck!
