Default Oxygen Sensor Compatibility

Hey there, so I'm at little unsure as to what I've got here. I have 4 oxygen sensor's all bought when on really good clearance at the local parts store because the packing was damaged..dunno. Used to own a 1981 Ford Mustang Inline 6 and my mother owns a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport. I have 2 of the same oxygen sensors that look identical to this for the explorer and we don;t need a chnage in the explorer yet:

This one pictured above though the link is universal.

However mine look the same in everyway but have a white 4 pin connector with a red/orange plastic washer inside. Now the picture of that 02 Sensor has the same black, grey, and 2 white wires as mine minus the connector. Everywhere I've checked universal sensors are 4 wires and have this same colour combo. Now if i took the connector off and had bare wires ready for splicing could they be used for universal applications since even the metal body part of the sensor looks the same as the universal's so are the sensors designed specifically for certain vehicles and cats and are not compatible.

I would think if i cut off the connector it should splice in as any universal would since they seem to be identical. I'm not expert so I'm just specualting. The 2 oxygen sensors i have with white x2, black and grey wires are from the explorer. I want to know if these 4 wire sensors can be converted please let me know thanks. Any advice Very Appreciated!!

Oxygen sensors numbers for 2 of the Same for Ford explorer (4 wire):
0 258 986 603

Single other sensor for ford Explorer 4 wire, same colour combo just shorter length: 0258 005 716

From what I have read, it is best to stick with the OEM O2 sensors on the Volvos. Several people have had problems when they try to covert aftermarket brands.

Can you put you expertise in this please?

I just got hold of a O2 sensor from a 93 850 n/a (redish colour connector) and my question is that Can I install it in my 94 Turbo as pre-cat sensor by just splicing the wires to my original (94 turbo-blue colour) connector or they are completely different in specs?

Huh, so only Volvo Brand? because these sensors are Bosch and I know Bosch does make a lot of Volvo stuff and OEM products, but i here what you're saying, too bad, I've got 3 of these, 4 if you include the sensor from the Mustang i sold.

Since you alread have them, there is no harm in giving them a try.
