Hey folks,

I was wondering if anybody knew a way to remove only the painted plastic portion of the (1995) 850 side mirror. One of mine is the actual car colour (Emerald Green) and the other is silver, so I want to take off the painted part of the mirror housing and repaint it, so I don't have to tape up the entire fender/door/window.

Is there an easy way?

 

They do come apart. If I remember right, the way I did it was to take the mirror off from the door, pop the glass out, and take it apart that way. I dont recall it being difficult, either. Oddly enough, I did mine for the opposite reason: I wanted to renew the "rough" surface, which I rattle canned. it came out great.
