plugs, wires and intake oh my
I have a 1996 850R, I would like to replace the spark plugs, plug wires and intake. what would you suggest as being a good stock upgrade for each. I asked at an auto parts store but my friend who is really into mercedes said that sometimes what their computers tell them are not the best option for your particular car.... so please help me out!!
why do you wanna replace your intake? your kinda limited on aftermarket intakes, in face ive never seen one for an 850 lol. plugs go with oem volvo turbo plugs, and bosch wires, or the ipd 8mm wires
Auto parts stores will only suggest something they have on their shelves, so it'll most likely not be specific for the Volvo. Head over to IPD and browse what they have. They have more performance stuff than FCP does so if you're looking for upgrades, they're the ones to look at. They are a bit pricey, but they do support us heavily and it's always good to support 'em back!
Stick with copper plugs - no need for those quad-tipped, precious metal beasts that chew up your $$ and don't last.
+1 on the wires.
Intake - you mean the air intake or the intake manifold? Check out their short ram intake.
Short Ram Intake
Lot of people like them for the additional air flow and the louder growl it makes.
IPD also has phenolic spacer that gets installed between the intake mani and the engine. Some say it does nothing, some say it helps.
