Default Does seal brand matter?

I am going to replace the cam seals on my 2001 S40. I bought seals from FCP and they are Elring. Will this be O.K., or do I jump down to the dealer for Volvo?

Cam seals are easy, so it's probably not a big deal. I no longer use aftermarket seals anywhere on my car. Last time I did my cam seals I used aftermarket, I had to take my valve cover back off for something and the cam seals were completely shot on the driver side, put in OEM ones, but the ones on the passenger side are aftermarket and still fine. I guess it's either 1) save probably 2 dollars or 2) have a peace of mind that your seals will last for years and years.

IMO, there's some things you can go aftermarket for and somethings you can't. Seals are one thing I do not go aftermarket for anymore.

I don't know, but when I put in the OEM cam seals from the dealership, they were definitely not the same seals that I got from FCP. They even weighed more.

I recently replaced the CAM seals in our S70 GLT. It did NOT have oem seals in the motor, so somewhere along the line they have been replaced, my guess would be that they were replaced within the past 2 years. They were DIFFERENT from the oem seals I got from the stealer. We had the car for 18 months before they started leaking.
