Default Polishing tail lights?

The tail lights on my car have no shine to them at all. They almost look like they were lightly sandblasted. Has anyone ever polished there tail lights. I am wondering if headlight polish would work on them. When I went to P n P a few weeks ago there were no undamaged tail lights so I am looking at options.

IT will put a shine on it but it will be nothing like a good set of lenses. You will like the fact that they look 'better' than they did before but you'll find yourself at the wrecker looking for better ones. Since you have a wagon why dont you go looking for V70 lights and get rid of the amber.

You could also search for taillights from 96 or 97 models as they do not fade. Polishing the lights is not such a good idea (here in Germany) as you will inadvertedly destroy the small markings on them rendering them and the car useless (again here with german legislation).

The plastics has actually started deteriorating. They can not be fixed, cleaned, polished, painted, etc. As John said, just go get some V70 lights out of a salvage yard, they will cost about $30 for a full set.

I polished mine, it got rid of the "milky" haze on the lights, but did not get rid of the tiny little cracks that were there.

Looked better, but not great.

What years of V70 have tail lights that will fit? Were the tail lights on all 850s the same. I see on line that the local Pick N Pull has some new 850s and V70s although it doesn't say if they are wagons.

Sign up for Row52.com...create a search for 850 wagons. It will tell you when they are on the lot and most have pictures too.

I believe in the 3M kit chucked up in a cordless. I've used it on many headlights and taillights with great results. As stated it will not remove cracks but does make a huge improvement in surface condition and the lens having a shine like near new. Then use a good protectant monthly. It's like sunscreen for your lenses.

I have new headlights in four of my vehicles as polishing is great but new is better. On the volvo they are glass but I replaced them because the reflector surface had degraded. Really noticed the difference.

She cleaned up good with the hood from Pick N Pull and now I just want the tail lights to look good to. I need to paint the little lip spoiler.

All V70's are wagons. The sedans were S70's.

Tail lights from 97-99 will fit the 850, but make sure to get the globe holders as well, they are slightly different.
