Exclamation Pro advice needed!

Ok so I have my first real issue with my 95 850 turbo. The pcv system was clogged to hell and it didn't wait til spring for me to replace it. Black smoke started pouring out the exhaust a few days ago so I took it to my shop and he says oil is seeping out everywhere. Where I'm confused is that he's telling me I need a new turbo, which will run about 1400 to do. Then he tells me I probably need a rear main seal. He can't say any of this for sure mind you. He said he's going to degrease the motor snd then he will have a better idea. I love my car and want to keep it. I drove it to the shop so I doubt very much my turbo and rear main are both shot. Ok pros, what do you think? If you need any more info let me know. Thanks.

Im no pro, but I know that when the rear seal is blown, it will leak oil from the back of the engine block....start by checking that.
Also, I know that your turbo is blow when you see blueish smoke from the exhaust (when its in full boost...aka your kicking the car)...thats my 0.02$. Like I said, im not pro...but this is what I've read and heard.

+1

I speak from experience when it comes to oil coming from everywhere but that does not mean your rear main is blown. I had oil coming from everywhere, out just about every sealant point on the block, my engine was 'wet'. But, the rear main did not leak so follow the above advice on checking the rear main.

As for the Turbo, ya, he is talking buying a new turbo and labor. If you have a wrecker with Volvos they may let you browse the turbo rack. Mine did. You can check them for play and pick up a decent used for probably $100-$150

Well my car is in the shop and they are gonna call me after they degrease the motor and run it again. Should I just have them do the pcv and see what happens from there? Thy said the plugs were clean so the oil was getting through the turbo and burning in the exhaust. What I'm asking I guess is if it's possible to be burnng oil like that could the pcv alone fix the pressure and leaks.

Do the PCV first and see from there.
