Question Problem starting, PCV??

Hi, my 94 volvo 850 turbo wagon has problems starting, doesnt matter if it is warm or cold. It cranks but it doesnt start instantly, and when it does it does like it is gonna turn off for a while. So i checked vacuum lines and replaced them, cleaned IAC, chacked spark plugs and wires, cleaned PTC, checked battery... I noticed then that there was a gas smell and smoke coming out from behind the engine and for some reason i thought it could be the pvc. So i took out the black spark plugs cover and unplugged that hose that comes from the oil trap, and i notice that there was not pressure there and that the smoke startet coming out of there and not from behind the engine... Could it be that the pcv is clogged? or the oil trap? any ideas or suggestions? Is there any way to fix it without having to buy all the pcv hoses and oil trap? could it be something else?

Thanks!
Paco

Smoke from behind the engine would not be because of the PCV, more then likely, that is coming from the turbo. Is there any smoke coming from the exhaust?

Yeah, there is smoke coming from the exhaust and sometimes it looks kind of blue... The thing is that when i disconnected the pcv hose undder the black spark plug cover the smoke started coming from there and not from behind, and I put my thumb to plug that hose and see if there was pressure and I didnt feel any pressure, is it normal?

blue smoke means that oil is burning somewhere.

I guess you can always start with changing the PCV system. It's not going to hurt. There really is no way to tell if it's clogged or not without removing it, and if your going to do all that work you might as well replace it.
