not starting after PCV and intake removal
I removed the intake (andyes, Iput it back on
) and now it wont start. After a while of cranking, one or two cylenders might fire, but never sustains itself
94 volvo 850 non turbo
It has 184,000 miles on it. I believe that the lifters may have a problem with bleeding down.
This is what I have done since trying to start it
-check fuel pressure 43 psi
-check all sensors connections to make sure they were plugged back in
-noid light on each injector (all flashed)
-new spark plugs (didn;t seem to help, but worth a shot)
-timing light on each plug wire (all flashed)
-went over the chiltons vacuum diagram again. (does anyone have a better one)
I did notice one vacuumline connection that appears that I missed. It sits under the batter. I have no idea what the device is call that it hooks to:

That connection you pointed to looks like the relief port for the cruise control vacuum motor. It does not have a line that connects to it, it vents the vacuum when you turn off the cruise. You may be onto something with the lifter bleed down. I read about that on here somewhere and it takes lots and lots of continuous cranking to build it back up.

+1 on the open nipple on the cruise control vacuum pump. That one seems to get everyone when they see it.
It sounds like you've done the obvious stuff.
Did you remove the plug wires from the distibutor cap in the process? I don't know about the Chiltons manual - I will never buy another one again as long as I live - but the Haynes manual is just flat wrong on where they show the position of the #1 plug wire.
The only other thing that makes any sense, given the work you've done, is a bad intake manifold leak.
I'm curious as to what you will find so please update as you resolve the problem.

Time to go roll this car down a steep hill in gear... see if it will bump start (or maybe off a cliff [:@]). I am going to inspect the intake, make sure it is fully seated. Hopefully there isn't something I didn't see stuck under it.
-I turned off the feul pump and cranked it. It sounded like it was trying to burn left over fuel for a little, but once again only one or two cyclinders fired.
-turned the feul pump back on and tried again... nothing
-shot starting fluid down the throttle body... nothing
I am running out of ideas.
I have been begging my wife to get rid of this car for a while. Must have put $2200 into it over the past 14,000 miles. It is still on its orignal clutch too. But averaged out, it's still prolly cheaper than a car payment.
...Chiltons/haynes, in general, does not provideenough info.Usually goodfor basicstuff, but sucks for morecomplex problems.

Are all of the injector seals good?
Did you reinstall every thing you removed?
I ask because some cars have seals around the bottom of the injectors that need to be there and people throw them away causing a big air leak.

Agreed.
Yes double-check your work (especially MAF sensor connection, CPS connection, etc...). And see if can pull codes from the ECU.

no. Unfortunately, time was up for me. Had to have the sedan (s10 can't fit more than 2 adults) to pick up family from the airport.
The dealer did.
Weak feul pump. I had got everything else back together correctly, so I don't feel too bad otherthan $800 lighter
