Radio Spits Cassette Tapes out
So.... I use a tape adapter to listen to my ipod in my 96 855r.. Out of no where it started to malfunction by way of the tape deck spitting out the adapter. Basically i just tried to read it, the black "arrows" that show which side its playing on flash top then bottom ( showing that its tried both tape sides) then spits it out.
I went and got a brand new Sony adapter, same thing
I tried some actual cassette tapes, Same symptoms. Tried to fake it out by hitting fast forward, still spits it out.
Next step would be to try a head cleaner, But i cant even find one! I even tried Frys.
Any ideas?
Gracias!

I doubt a head cleaner would work, the problem sounds like a drive motor that turns the tape reels has pooped itself.
Or if it still uses them, maybe a drive band has snapped?
What model stereo?

Isn't that the thing with eight tracks
You could go ahead and pop it open and see what you might see but usually if it's acting up it's just easier and cheaper to replace it. There are shops that will repair them but unless you own a classic and really have to have it original the cost is excessive. You're better off with a new aftermarket unit or if you want to stay original, used from a salvage yard, craigslist or ebay.

Yeah, I figured it might be DOA... Sad day. Figured i would try all the Free options first....... Its the "premium sound" Model, with CD, CD changer, Tape ect. Ill take a peek on flea Bay.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have a deck that you can have for FREE. It has the tape deck module in it and you likely can swap it out with the instructions I have. Shipping on the unit is $15. If you want, I can take the tape deck module out to lower the shipping to $8, up to you. Doesn't matter to me.
The radio in the unit does not work (fm I think) and it doesn't have a cd player.
