Default Radio Will Not Power On

I pulled the head unit out of the 97 R to replace one or two the bulbs again. When I put it back in, it would not get power. I put the spare unit I have from the old 94 850 and it gets power, so I know the problem is within the unit. I took it back apart and don't see any fuses or anything inside the unit. Any suggestions?

Never mind. I got it. It was the band that slips in behind the Bass, Treble and Fader slide switches.

Hi Jim,

Since I don't have the car handy, I can only guess.

Check the connector pins on the radio for power & ground to make sure they are not bent/damaged. Also, the problem may be in the power/volume ****. It may have an internal fuse (the old tube-type) on the circuit board, or on the back panel but I'm not sure. I assume the problem is minor, as it was working before you took it off, right?

Tech seems to be unable to come here for a while, so we'll have to figure out. I think Axel in Argentina could give you better suggestions than I could, as Axel's good at electrical/electronic systems.

Please update us.

Jim, I forgot to mention the universal cure for electronics.

Hit it like a man[8D].

Just kidding, hit it with a moderate force to see if it comes back to life.

Those SC-whatevers are made in Japan. I don't know who makes them, but probably not a top-brand.

Many Japanese products' qualitywent down recently due to exporting factories overseas and hiring locals with poor conditions. The difference between the rich & poor is widening rapidly[8D].
