the guys at IPD are great - but check our prices out too for Genuine Volvo parts which are hard to beat - and a 2 year unlimited warranty too!

Nice little slip for self advertisement there... Good site though. I'll probably be a future customer soon. P.S. In the vehicle selection step. The engine options for the 1996 850 were the 2.3 Turbo and the 2.4. There was no 2.5 that I'm aware of.

regarding aftermarket vs OEM vs genuine Volvo - I tend to choose based on a few things 1) which part. Anything with rubber in the part, ie bushings etc I tend to go OEM or genuine Volvo. 2) Vendor. For many parts, the OEM vendor who sells to Volvo is well known, so you can buy the same part without the Volvo logo on the box. In some cases, some parts sold by Volvo specialty shops sell after market parts that area better than OEM - a good example is the IPD HD spring seat and sway bar end links. 3) Price. There's a whole new marketplace for wholesale original parts which can get you OEM or Genuine Volvo for a competitive price. If you have any concerns about fit or exact compatibility, this is the way to go. Example here is a MAF sensor. OEM is said to be Bosch but Bosch makes about 100 variants and the wrong one can lead to DTCs or poor performance. Best choice IMHO would be to go Genuine Volvo to eliminate the guesswork and shop online to get a discounted price versus your local dealer.
