Question Replace Steering Wheel Clock Spring??

I was recently told by my mechanic that my steering wheel clock spring is broken and that is why I now have a broken horn and cruise control. When you turn the wheel you hear a clicking noise on each rotation. I assume he is correct because the noise and the malfunction appeared at the same time.

Does anybody know how to remove the wheel in order to replace this?

The clock spring has nothing to do with the horn or the cruise control. It will trip a SRS error though.

To your question this writeup goes way beyond what you want to do but it is quite detailed on the clock spring removal process.

At the end of the day you will likely need new insulators for the horn switch - you can buy them from www.odometergears.com - chances are the cruise problem is either bad vacuum lines from the cruise control pump or bad brake switches.

Horn slip ring is on the clock spring assy.
My clock spring assy was shot, the plastic goes brittle and falls apart.
The mounting legs on mine were what failed.
Fixed it with some two part epoxy ribbon.

I don't see the connection with the cruise control....

unless it's a common fuse ???
