Question Replacing torque converter bolts

Hello everyone,
I am puting mt automatic Tranny on my replacement engine and the book says to replace that bolts that bolt the torque converter to the flex plate.
The bolts are very expensive $ 6.50 each at the dealer and there are 10 of them.
Can I just reuse the ones I have and put some med locktight on them?

Thanks....Tom

That is what I did when I did my rear main seal last year and 15k miles later all is well. If you take the flywheel off use locktite on those bolts too or you will get oil seepage through the bolts. Tip from Tech and it seems to have paid off.

Have fun with it,
Rob

Default oil seepage mystery

Discovered this old thread while trying to solve oil seepage mystery. I removed flex plate to clean metal shavings and fluid off engine block after major tranny "failure" (cause still unknown). I noticed oil on the mating surfaces between crank and flex plate. Had replaced rear seal 3 years ago and thought it went bad but it looked fine: evenly seated and dry. Had no idea how this oil got there. Now I know!! I reused the old bolts (with locktite) when I did the rms but I guess I never first fully cleaned them or the inner threads on the crank (probably never let the locktite cure either). Will not bother to change the seal now. Mystery solved. Thank you Tech for the tip, and thank you Forum for all this combined knowledge! Awesome!
