Since I purchased my V I've reset the service light only once when it came on; this was at the 5k interval.

Now my question is: If I go through the motions to reset the light (it's currently not on), will I get a fresh 5k before it illuminates? I'm switching to synthetic and want the counter.

There may not be. The pre '96 cars have OBD-I under the hood which allows for service reset.

 

I just pulled the light out - problem solved.

 

Anyone know where to buy a service reset tool? I bought one of the OBDII to serial cables with diagnostic software not knowing it only works for Windows XP... still no solution to light being on other than pulling dash out to remove the bulb.
