Default Revs High When Started

When I first take the car out in the morning I notice it seems to really take off, almost like it's got a mind of it's own. The rpms go up and sometimes I feel the gas pedal go down by itself, and in city driving I've really got to lay on the brake at stops so I don't hit someone! Once I get driving on the highway for awhile it seems to subside...mechanic says might be a vacuum leak but there's no stalling. Any ideas?

Didn't do it this afternoon when I started it,maybe because it was warm out...maybe it being cold has something to do with it also.

See if you have a dirty throttle body cable, or butterfly. This happened on one of my old mustangs.
