Default seat belt tensioner

Hey guys,
I pulled the drivers seat belt in my 97' 850 the other day and the tensioner locked. Is there a reset or does the whole unit need to be replaced? It was working fine before the lock.

Thanks,
Chet

It needs to be replaced. Mine did the exact same thing the other day as well. I am looking for a used one as we speak.

Mine does the same thing and I plan to look for one on ebay. Dealer prices for a new one are so much higher. I can get mine to work by pulling on it slowly with only the slightest of tension. Seems if I jerk it, it hangs up. there's a little free moving cam in mine that hangs up and stops the belt. Not disturbing this cam is the trick. Once free, the belt will pull out OK and work OK for a time. You may try spraying some silicon spray lubricant up into the retractor after you have pulled the belt out as far as it will go.
