I mean the part that is bolted to the side pillar behind the trim where the seat belt retracts into, not on the actual bottom of the seat.
Its the cylinder piece that has the red stripe on it correct?

No, that's the seat belt retractor. If the car thinks you are in an accident, it will activate that and actually pull you back into the seat.
The airbag in the '93 - '98 cars is actually in the side of the seat and is triggered by a mechanical switch on the side of it (may be more dangerous to work around than people think). I deployed one about a year ago.

Oh I w as just using the ebay photo for refrence. I was not suggesting it as a part replacement.
Did you take that photo yourself rspi? Couldn't find a good photo of a deployed airbag when I did a quick search.
I had the dealer do my drivers side belt on my salvage T5-R due to not knowing if the airbag system was good or not, and then if it set it off they would eat the cost for it. Worth the $70 bucks to me since I already had the belt laying around.
