Default Seatbelts

I have a 95/96 850 10v Estate and the drivers seatbelt is difficult to pull out smoothly, I can change it myself, I want to know if the belts are the same in a 850 as a V70.

go to a local junkyard and get one. dealer will charge you arm and a leg, make sure to unplug the negative terminal on your battery since the side air bag is attached to the bottom of the seat belt.

Don't want that going off in your face trying to install it.

The airbag is not attached to the bottom of the seatbelt on the '93 - '98 models.

I mean the part that is bolted to the side pillar behind the trim where the seat belt retracts into, not on the actual bottom of the seat.

Its the cylinder piece that has the red stripe on it correct?

A little over $80 (with shipping) seems pretty high.

If you had the time and tools pulling one at a salvage yard would save you $$$.

No, that's the seat belt retractor. If the car thinks you are in an accident, it will activate that and actually pull you back into the seat.

The airbag in the '93 - '98 cars is actually in the side of the seat and is triggered by a mechanical switch on the side of it (may be more dangerous to work around than people think). I deployed one about a year ago.

The trigger is about 4" from the tip of that jack handle.

Oh I w as just using the ebay photo for refrence. I was not suggesting it as a part replacement.

Did you take that photo yourself rspi? Couldn't find a good photo of a deployed airbag when I did a quick search.

I had the dealer do my drivers side belt on my salvage T5-R due to not knowing if the airbag system was good or not, and then if it set it off they would eat the cost for it. Worth the $70 bucks to me since I already had the belt laying around.

Yes my pic. I took that seat out of a car and replaced it with a leather one.
