Default Volvo 850 flywheel bolts

I have pulled 3 m56 off cars so it not my first rodeo. I have search and read other posts, BUT I can't seem to find the tool info. I saw tech commented and said 12 point 17mm socket. Is that meaning a triple square socket or a 12 sided torx? Because I'm stuck now on removing the flywheel. It has the 12 point torx bolts. What exact tool do I need? I went to 5 different pawn shops / automotive stores and only found a 16mm 12 point not a 17mm like tech said.. So am I confusing 2 different tools or is the 17mm correct?

I haven't physically done a Volvo clutch so I haven't been in "there".

In looking at the picture it just doesn't look like it's a 17mm. 17 is really a big size and that's why you're having trouble tracking one down. Are you sure

Have you actually seen the flywheel bolts compared to the tools you have seen ? The bolts for the flexplate could easily be 17mm but the flywheel ??

Best bet to put your hand on one right away would be to go on line and find out who your local Snap-on, Matco or Mac tool dealer is and give the guy a call and see if they do stock one. Or just call a local tire shop that's open today and get one of the guys numbers.

Well now I'm back to being lost. The guy who confirmed it was a 17mm sent me a photo of a Sears Craftsman 3/8" drive 12 point chrome socket like comes in any metric socket set.

This is the one for the flex-plate (automatic)

Yeah the bottom picture makes sense for a 17mm 12 point because its easily almost the size of our lugs, but the bolt shown above just doesn't seem that big.
And craftsman doesn't make 12 currently I have the tool department check yesterday

I just need this Dang flywheel!!
I wish someone would chime in with some words of knowledge!
Not that you haven't been tryin to help kissafrog lol!

I went over on Volvospeed and asked your question thinking I'd get more performance guys who have done the conversion and also upgraded components.

So for no such luck. You might want to try over there. I just asked two pages into a discussion on clutches. If you're the OP with this question you might get better advise.
