Default service light, obd2, diagnostic module

First I would like to thank so many of you that have posted cures for the 850 turbo wagon I just purchased. The subject posted at this time is the service light. I have both the diagnostic module under the hood as well as the obd2 port in front of the shifter. I tried the 1-5-1 method with no luck. A mechanic friend tried with the same result. This may be a dumb question, but when the ignition is turned on but the car is not started, 2 idiot lights do not glow. these are the "check engine", and "abs". ? should they glow and then go out after
the car is started.
Since I am here, can anyone point me in the direction for after market 3' down pipes, exhaust etc for this 1995 turbo. Thanks

I should think that the two lights in question should light up prior to the engine starting............I wonder if they have been circumvented? The air bag is a pretty nifty thing when you strike an immovable object! TECH can comment on the light situation. Your down pipe can be sourced from IPD (www.ipdusa.com).

p.s. bring a bag of $'s with you when ordering the down pipe.

From under the hood put the wire in A7 and then it is 4-1-5-1 that should clear the light.
