For the past 4 months my shifter light has been blinking, every time I have something replaced it stays off for 2-3 days and then starts again. Volvo dealer told me I may need a new tranny. I took to a tranny shop and they replaced the S2 solenoid and said the tranny looks great, that did not fix it, replaced the PNP switch, same thing. The car runs great with check engine light on. Shifter light blinks and then shuts off (after a couple days), car runs fine for a week or so and then the shifter light starts blinking and it won't shift down but once I shut the car off at work at the end of the day the shifter light is still blinking but it runs fine and the whole process starts over. Can anyone help me? I am at my wits end.

 

Next I would look at the trans control module.

I have another question for you, I am only able to find one website selling a TCM and the price is $1,060? Is this correct? Should I look at recking yards? I checked with the two websites you posted for parts in the general forum but did not come up with any hits.

You could check a junk yard.

 

I have an extra one that I bought from a junk yard for $250 -- my problem was the ignition switch. Let me know if you're interested.

Well I replaced my TCM and the car ran great for two days. The check engine light is back on and the shifter light is blinking. Let's recap I have replaced the S2 cylonoid in the tranny, the pnp switch and the TCM. Does anyone have any other ideas or should I just replace the tranny?????
