Default Should I buy this Jem?

Hey guys,

Looking for an opinion from you. There is a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT Sedan for sale near me that is in pristine condition. It has 85,000 original miles, original paint, wheels, interior is perfect and all the maintenance has been done. PCV, Timing Belt, Brakes/rotors, fresh inspection... this car is a beauty and it is ready to go, I can't find a thing wrong with it. The only thing holding me back is the price. What do you guys think it is worth? He is asking 5,000. Welcome all opinions!

I did the opposite, I spent $5000 on 10 cars at $500 each. I currently drive one with 300,000 miles on it. Will you get $5000 worth of use out of it? Yes. The car will last you the rest of your life, and you may get really sick of it before then.

Very true here is the craigslist posting. Yeah I know it would last a long time..Just not sure if I want to drive one forever because I know it will definitely last that long with propper maintenance.

I would never buy it, even at free.

Not wagon, not turbo, and not manual. But I can't speak for you.

Well if you like it, I would definitely offer less than asking.

Like TB said, it doesn't have many of the desirable attributes many of us look for in these cars. That paint color is pretty common on these cars (same as mine); the olive green is much more rare and wanted typically, as are the wagons.

I just assumed it looked like a Volvo. Not noted for their beauty.

Default 850

Thanks for the opinions guys. I had a GLT before and really liked it and I also like the non turbo because in my opinion there is less to fail and worry about. This one has nice low miles and was taken care of I just don't think it is worth 5,000...even to me. So Thanks for the input.

I did not look at the book value, but I would think it's worth book value. As mentioned, most people looking for an "old Volvo" would prefer everything this one is not. Great basic transportation, for sure.

WTH are you talking about??!

I love the minimalist and simple styling of the 850 wagon. Make me smile every time I see it..
