Exclamation SKF Timing kit and estate services PCV kit

Hello everyone, I am looking to service my recently bought Volvo 850 non turbo 2.5 20v, at the moment I cant afford to pay for oem kits for both PCV sistem a Timing kit, where i live the oem kits are about 500$ for the timing belt kit and 310$ for just the parts, so I found these SKF timing kit for 150$ (https://www.estateservices.nl/volvo-...-met-pomp.html) and these one for the PCV sistem (https://www.estateservices.nl/carter...turbo-20v.html). Does anyone know if these kits are a reliable option or if maybe i should buy the timing kit and wait to do the pcv a few months. I did the glove test and it didnt pass, and the timing was changed last in 2006 when it had 260k km (now it has 280k km).

Thanks in advance.

regarding the timing belt, the service really just needs to include the timing belt and the tensioner. You can source those outside of buying a full kit water pump etc and still get quality after market parts. You can also drop on a new serpentine and inspect the idlers and decide what's needed there as well.

As to the PCV, you can try removing the intake manifold and pull off the lower hoses and inspect/clean out the ports in the block (they can fill with sludge so even with new hoses and flame trap you'd still be clogged. I suppose you can also try cleaning the lower hoses out with some solvent like brake cleaner and simply replace the hose clamps and flame trap to see if that does the job. Your going to want to clean the block ports anyways when doing even the full kit.

Hi there,

I think sourcing the timing belt and tensioner separately is the best idea, i will inspect the idlers and replace the serpentine as well. I will try to clean the ports in the block and the lower hoses and also replace the hose clamps and flame trap. Maybe that works.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Have a great day!
