snapped timing belt is it terminal

i have a 1996 volvo 850 2.5 20v with a snapped timing belt it went while i was driving it, will this bend the valves?

Yes. Pull the head to confirm.

This is why you do scheduled maintenance everyone.

Did you try to restart it after the belt broke? If so, you bent the valves. If not, there is a chance that the valves are not bent.

head and pistons probably toast. time for a junk yard motor. Expensive way to learn a lesson on preventative maintenance though.
