1995 850 "Turbo"

--Badged as a turbo

--has a boost gauge

--Listed as a 2.3L

Is it a T-5?

It has GLT rims, so perhaps the Columbas disappeared somehow?

I didn't think any of the LPT cars came with a boost gauge and were badged as a GLT.

The Carfax said 2.4L

Any other ways I can verify its a T-5?

And yes, I am hunting for another 850.

Ha! Couldn't stay away.... I would assume it's a T5 and maybe the person ran aftermarket wheels and threw those on maybe before getting rid of the car. Looks Clean.

I would assume it was a turbo. In 95 the GLTs didn't have turbos, and all turbo cars had a boost gauge. The only way would be to see a pic of the bay. My wagon was a turbo and the vin also had it listed as a 2.4l.

This one's about 20 minutes from my house.

I'm trying to hear back from the dealer.

I'd like to see how low they will go on it.

I would assume they gave the owner $1,200 on it.

Fair trade in is $875, good is $1,375.

It is not in excellent condition from the pics.

--Rims aren't correct
--Tires look fair
--Probably has dings and dents
--Missing the gas door

It is pretty clean. It's weird that it doesn't have the headlight wipers. That's the first time I've seen an 850 without them. And I would think that a "turbo" trim would have those for sure. I would check the engine, if it has a turbo then it is what it says it is.

You can tell its a turbo but its a base model at that. No seat heaters either. Interior definately says not a T-5R. Oh, Welcome....Back??

I have seen some of the LPT GLT turbo's without boost gauges.

I will try and get there tonight before they close, but its looking like I won't be able to.

I was able to talk to someone in sales there. They still have it.

He said they've had it for about 45 days or so.

The odometer does not work, tires are at fifty percent.

The sales guy said that the previous owners traded it in on a different Volvo (Of course they did!) and that they recently invested $1,000 in repairs to it (Mmhmm).

I won't be *** hurt if I can't get one, but I'm not so sure on this one.

I didn't notice the lack of heated seats.

That's a key thing for me...no seriously I really like having them.

Hmmm

True, I've seen GLTs without boost gauges. If you feel a little unsure about it, I would be cautious. I would look at it in person. Inspect the motor, the fluids. See if it's clean. When I was looking at that yellow T5-R that was local to me, one thing that really turned me off was how dirt the bay was, it just screamed lack of routine maintenance, which makes me think of larger problems in the future.

I'm not so much leery about the car, but whether or not I want to get another one.

I'm more leery of the price than anything else.

I would venture to guess they gave the previous owner every bit of $800 for that car

Really? I have seen more 850s down here without them than with them.... Must be a "Zone" thing.

VJZ, you are correct. I would say they gave him around the same. See how low they go. Keep us updated! I hope you get another 850.

Most of the 850s in the Pittsburgh area seem to have the wipers (my 850 included).

Heated seats are one of those things you don't think about until you've had them and get into a car without them.

In addition to inspecting the car, I would ask the seller for any service records. This helps not only to paint a clearer picture of the car's history, but also lets you know what may need replaced soon. When I got my 850 from my grandfather, he gave me the folder containing all records dating back to 1996. I spent an evening looking at them and running them past what I've heard about replacement intervals (from both Volvo literature and sites like this one) to check the status of my vehicle's parts. (Thankfully my grandfather maintained it well). If you can check the records from this car, by all means invest the time to do so.

There is the VIN.

Is an 857 a T5?

This one looks interesting.

Has a 57 VIN, boost gauge, and looks to be a T5 underhood.

Worst color though...
