Something else to make you go hmmmmmm....
On my '96 850R, my trip odometer (the analog one) and my trip computer trip odometer read two different mileages. The one on the trip computer reads significantly higher than my analog trip odometer. Any thoughts here?
Well, I typically reset my trip odometers (both of them) after I fill up with gas. I can't give an exact #, but say my analog trip odometer is reading 300 miles, the one on my trip computer will rear something like 360 miles. I always reset them both at the same time before I leave the gas station parking lot.
I guess I didn't read you post thoroughly. I didn't read the part about the trip mileage. I thought you refered to the mileage on the ECU vs the mileage on the odometer. Odometer tampering is so common here that I read half of your post and i was already replying.
Analog odometer failure appears to be very common on these cars. Mine died two months ago.

I've thought about that. So I've watched it closely. The mileage on the analog unit is accurate for my drive to work....exactly 12 miles. Both my 850 wagon and my wife's car give me the exact mileage of 12 miles. So, I don't think the odo gear is going to break. Does anybody know what the trip computer trip odometer reads off of to get the mileage?
