Default So new to volvo's I'm scared

Hi

Just bought my first ever volvo and it's a second hand (95) 850 glt estate 2.5 20v. it has 137,000 on the clock and has a full service history with reciepts up until a few thousand miles ago. Thats got that bit out of the way.

Cam belts when should they be changed?
My rear wash wipe did work but has now stopped, any ideas, checked the fuses all ok
The drivers door, when it opens almost to the fullest point of opening there's like a metallic clunk that doesn't happen on any other door, one invoice makes reference to"remove driversside front door and weld a post for check strap"?

other than that I love, insurers said no to a T5 but I love this one

Timing belt is every 70K or five years whichever comes first. There is a pretty easy way to fix the door clunk thing. I posted it not too long ago. See if you can find it with the search. If not I will look for it for you.

My rear wash wipe did work but has now stopped,
Is it just the wash that has stopped or the whole thing?

If it is just the wash there is a filter/non-return valve under the right hand side of the luggage area floor. Theyhave been known toblock.

Thanks for the speedy reply chaps

re rear wash wipe, the whole thing. the water comes out but the wiper has just stopped and will not work. I am expecting this coming weekend to take off the rear panel and see if if anything has come loose.

The door clunk thing I will need to look for as the other half is convinced the door will fall off , she seems to hear noises every where

Does the motor turn and the blade not move or is the whole thing dead?

Hi Info, the whoe thing was working but now is dead, the only thing that works is the washer water jet.

Re the door, thanks for the link. I have also emailed volvo asking them for assistance as this part/repair has failed twice now and appears to be quite a common fault on the 850. Will keep you in touch .

Since it's happened before it almost makes me think there is an electrical issue.

The wiper assembly might have come loose from the tailgate and jammed.

Seen it many times.
