about three weeks ago i replaced the fuel pump on my 94 850 turbo. it worked great for about a week until one morning i tried to start it and it wont turn over. it has a spark but will not start. i checked the pressure through the regulator throughout this past week and about three out of ten times gas come out and there was pressure. i got it towed to a mechanic and he said he would diagnose it for me. but he called me and told me he thinks it has to do with the computer system and he cant help and i have to take it to a volvo dealer. does anyone have any possible solutions to make it start. i know there is limited info but anything would help.

 

You should have pressure 10 out of 10 times. Do you hear the fuel pump when you try to start it? Have you read the other 900 post that talk about the fuel pump relay?

 

yeah I know it might be the relay but I don't want to spend money for something without knowing if I really need it. I was just reading the manual and found that I can use the diagnostic unit to get a code that will diagnose the problem. Do you think that will work in telling me what I need to fix or replace?

 

Check a few other threads and jump the relay. If that works, get one. I have a few if you need one.

 

Just got car back from mechanic. I jumped the relay with a paperclip from 15 to 87. No start. I tried the diagnostic check and got back code 325 which book says is ecu memory loss. Should i try to jump relay a different way?i

 

Also mechanic said it has a good spark. Any ideas?

Ok so I stripped a wire and connected it to port 15 and 87 to jump the relay. When I turned the key I can hear fuel pump loud and clear. When I put the relay back and turned the key can't hear the pump at all. This leads me to believe that my fuel pump is working fine. Is that a correct assumption?
