does the odometer stop as well or just the speedo needle? Any other symptoms - upshift arrow flashing/ABS brake light come on off? Did you check for any codes? (you didn't mention which year but if its a 94/95, check out volvotips.com on how to use the LED button/jumper to read out codes from the ABS/Transmission computer... My sense is it could be the speed sensor connecting into the transmission (I'm guessing the wheel sensors would likely set off the ABS light)... Otherwise it could be the gauge cluster. Good news there is you can buy a used cluster and they just swap in...

So the abs module its connect to the transmision? Or how does the speedo its doing that? I mean i understand the problem with the pad on right rear will have to do with the abs light on but the arrow went off and its not going on again 🤔

My 96 850r always has abs light on. No tranny arrow though. Speedo cuts out every time i drive. I replaced My passenger rear caliper 4 times in 2 years. They seize up. Dont know how that has anything to do with it

there are speed sensors at each wheel and one for the transmission. If you replaced the calipers, there's always the chance that the wheel sensor got knicked or got grease on it. The sensors feed into the ABS controller thus the ABS light will come on if the computer senses a fault. You can have the ECU and TCU scanned for fault codes - including codes to indicate whether a wheel or transmission sensor has a problem.

Check if volvotips.com has a diagnostic procedure posted.
