Speedometer/Odometer not working all the time.
I recently bought a used Volvo 850 T5 Wagon and after driving it for a week or so noticed that the Speedometer works intermittenly. I took it to a mechanic and he changed the sensor's as well as replaced the ignition cylinder and I still have the same results. Does anyone have any insight to what the problem might be and the fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No the ABS light is not on. It is a 1997. I read somewhere on the internet that if the cruise contorl works it might mean that the Speedometer is the sole problem and needs to be replaced. Is this true?
If the ABS module is bad it will do that to the speedometer as well.
You might want to try to have the codes pulled from the ABS module. The light might not be on but it may still have codes.

Thanks for the suggestion. One thing I forgot to mention to you is that if I turn the ignition key when the car is running it also activates the speedometer to begin working again for a short time. Have you heard of that efore as well?
