Default Stalling and Trunk Strut Questions

Recently picked up a used 1993 850 GLT. I've been browsing the forums for a variety of things but thought I'd check in here with a couple of questions I have.

First, the car has stalled on me a couple of times recently while driving on the highway. Pretty scary, but it seems it's only happened when a radio adapter is plugged in to the cigarette lighter. Naturally, I've discontinued use of that device, but I'm curious if that could be causing the stalling and whether or not that means the battery is in need of replacement.

Second, the trunk requires a lot of force to open and closes like a guillotine. Any advice on replacing the trunk support system? I've found parts all over the internet called trunk struts. Are these what I need, and if so are they easy to install?

Thanks in advance!

Click here for Trunk Lift Support .

Not sure about the first. You can take the battery/alternator into autozone and have it tested.

For intermittent stalling problem - Check/ replace the fuel pump relay that is hidden under the fuse box under the hood. You will have to remove 4 torx screws to see the relays. If the relay is green in colour, that means that it is old old and have never been replaced and you can replace it with new kind which is red/pinkish in colour.

Thank you both very much for the help. I'll see what I can find out specifically about both things.
