at start up, cooling fan comes on=thermostat issue?
Hi there, I have a 1996 850 and have been grappling with the infamous stalling/no start issues at start up.
when I start the car it sputters and dies over and over again or turns over but doesn't start at all. I noticed today that the cooling fan kicks in immediately, even if the car was only running for 10 seconds. Could my troubles be related to the thermostat some how? (Note: I have the fenix engine which has no maf sensor)
I remember reading something about a cheap and easy thermostat sensor replacement but I can't find the thread. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have your AC turned on when starting? I was told by a former Volvo serviceman that the fan turns on when the temperature reaches a certain level, and "anytime" the AC is on. Or it goes into a second, faster speed when the AC is turned on. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
