What are the chances of crankshaft sensor being faulty even though its new? I read on other forums and thread of this happening with other people. Cam sensor is from Advanced Auto and crank sensor from Olympus. After I installed crankshaft sensor it fired up twice on the first try and then back to the same old. Short lived happiness.

Yes torn, missing, and damaged vacuum lines can stop the car from starting and running but you would usually have a cel. Do you have a cel?

Also, why are you hell bent on not properly checking the fuel pressure?

I CANNOT believe, its back to life ( well it will be tomorrow actually). After using my friends car to piggyback parts off of, I traced it down to faulty cam sensor. Originally the shop put a new one in and it was faulty then I bought a new one and apparently its faulty too. I took the oem original one of of my friends car and sure enough it fired up over and over again. I cannot believe that it took 3 aftermarket sensors to get if back to life. Just shows the quality of OEM parts. Going to Volvo dealer tomorrow and ill be back to drivingng my sweet R. Guys thank you all for your help. I can't thank you enough. Ironically this was the first thing that I replaced but I can't believe that both new sensors were faulty, what are the ods? I wish I knew that before dumping $1200 more in other parts. Again thank you all for support

Ok, I try not to purchase parts from places other than FCP, IPD or the Stealer. Just making sure it wasn't from one of those sources. I believe FCP & IPD knows which parts are good and which are not. I try to buy from them so I can get tested, proven parts.

Sh*t the new cheap aftermarket one wrapped out. Worked great for the first ten cranks and now barely fires. I'm going to et one from a dealer tomorrow. Could it be that all three aftermarket ones didn't work or is my car somehow shooting them out? Also does the magnet inside that the cam sensor goes over wears out? Oem cam sensor out of my buddy's car worked great and my aftermarket one didn't work on his. I'm just beginning to doubt it that fter 3 new sensors I'm still having the same issue, maybe just bad luck

So far I am on my 4th cam sensor, same story, I install it, it fires right up, everything is great..........after about 5-10 good start ups its beginning to hesitate again and back to the same old story. Today Advanced auto gave me a replacement, same story. I found an old gift card to auto zone, got a duralast one from them........same story. Am I putting it on wrong, does the "half moon supposed to be in a certain position..........I just dont get it. I read on another forum that half moon is supposed to be at the bottom when installing and that I should also unplug the battery for 20 minutes before installing it. I am hitting a brick wall here, Ill go to the yard tomorrow and get few of the used oem ones, if not dealer it is at $295. All of them started up great at first and then they immediatelly begin to wear out. ECU maybe? are the ones off the turbo models the same as the ones for the R?

They are all the same for the 850 model.
Did you change or replace anything before this started to happen?
Something must be shorting them out.
Is the stock ECU in there?

Stock ecu and ecu checked out. Replaced the coolant temperature sensor today and it has fired up 30 times throughout the day and now back to the same old problem. Got to be a short somewhere or maybe the aftermarket coolant sensor went bad. I'll get one from the dealer tomorrow along with oem crank sensor. If that don't work ill have the Volvo dealer trace the problem because I'm clueless now

P.s. the coolant sensor that I'm referring to is for ecu reading NOT the one for the gauge

P.s.s. I noticed that the wide on the coolant sensor was rating in intake manifold. I think it might have shorter out the wire
