Nice installs Boxpin - love those old Alpine V12's, I've had one for 15 years and it still sounds great (it's currently installed in a remote broadcasting vehicle for one of the radio stations I work for). You don't use t-taps, do you
Seriously, do not connect an amp for a sub-woofer or even a full range speaker to the cigarette lighter wiring, sure its there, its convenient; it is also a fire hazard and just flat out lazy. I'm not sure how you would ever get performance out of any amp wired that way; for that matter I wouldn't even wire the power for the deck to the cigarette lighter.
My 2 cents anyhow.

We just had two 12-inch subs installed in the trunk of our 850. Rather than deal with all this, I paid a measly $70 to have them professionally installed. We kept the factory head unit, just added the subs and amp. All I can say now is "wow"! What a huge difference! This relatively inexpensive modification made the factory stereo sound so much better it is unbelievable.
Good luck with your installation.
