Sunroof help...will tilt but gets stuck sliding back..busted track?
Hello all
Here i am with yet another problem. When I forst got my 850 I would open the sunroof and hear this loud clicking noise from teh sunroof when sliding it back. I had no idea what it was and it continued to open so I just turned the radio up and acted liek I didnt hear it.
The other day I tried to slide it back and it moved about a half inch and then stopped. It will return to the closed position and will tilt just fine.
I'm new to these cars but I'm assuming its a busted track. Any ideas? and if so how hard is it to replace.
Thanks
Arlo

Hi Arlo,
I've just replied to your rear sagging problem.
As to the roof, see: https://volvoforums.com/m_75306/tm.htm
Does the shade slide back & forth smoothly?
Replacement of the track mechanism would be a major repair and requires 2 people to be safe. I once undid the track and noticed how heavy the mechanism was. Don't try to do it by yourself, or the mechanism could violently slide into the windscreen and break it.
I hope this gets you started. FYR:

Arlo, do you have a sedan or wagon? I had the same trouble as you with my 850 wagon. I bought a complete working unit from a '97 V70 and put it in myself. It really wasn't that bad once you remove the entire headliner. It took me about 3.5 hours start to finish. Now my sunroof is perfect If you want more details, pm me or email me at b1mmer "at" earthlink "dot" net. - AB
