Hey, I am new to the forum, and I hope I can find some advice and also give some advice.
I have a 1995 855 turbo and it has random idle / rpm surges. Any idea what is doing this?

If I drive with cruise control on, I do not have to fight it. It is wierd, the car just randomly speeds up for 1 - 2 seconds and then goes back to normal.

Any ideas????

Try cleaning the throttle body and idle motor.

 

Is the idle motor below the throttle body?
Also, is carb cleaner good enough to clean it out???

 

Carb cleaneris fine. Also the idle motor is more less infront of the throttle body. It has 2 hoses going to it.

 

Fixed,
Cleaned idle motor and throttle body. Throttle body was dirty on the back side, plenty of baked on crud. I also replaced thermostat and temperature sensor. I believe surging was due to faulty thermo sensor, as when I started car up after replacing just thermo sensor, motor quit surging. It runs smoother now after cleaning idle motor and throttle body.
