Tachometer goes in and out
my tachometer goes in and out of working, out most of the time, but if i rev it high when its out, it will jump up and then go back down to 0 after i let the throttle down, but is not accurate during this jump. it shows much higher RPM's than the engine is actually running at.
other times it will work fine, no problems, but only once in a while
its a 1993 GLT with 318K miles and a 5spd manual.
anyone have any idea what it could be?

Forum member and moderator Tech will probably have a more specific answer, but my thought is a loose connection at the gauge itself, or a loose connector at where the RPM signal comes from. I can't remember if these cars get an RPM signal from the ignition coil, or a seperate sensor.
Hello Litehwk356,
I have a previous post with some photos if my dash showing my tach at zero and the speedometer at 80+km/h.
The first time this happened I didnt know what to think.
Ill place a link when I locate is as this only happens once every couple of months. And only for a day or two then things are fine.
Its kind of weird.
