Hello! I have a 1995 Volvo 850 with a Yazaki cluster. Sometimes when I am driving the gauges on the cluster stop working (the dash lights work properly). Sometimes the gauges will just come back on, and It is typically random. When the gauges stop working, the car runs terribly and reverse doesn't work. If the gauges come back on, then reverse works fine and the car runs well. Has anyone ever experienced this problem and / or have a solution?

My guess is that you have battery / charging issues. Have the battery and alternator checked/tested at an auto parts store. Also check your wires at your battery.

 

My battery actually went out yesterday so I think you're right. It had a tiny cheap battery that definitely was not the right size or cca. I swung by Walmart and picked up an EverStart Maxx H5 battery and threw that bad boy in there. It seems to be working fine now, as it hasn't happened since. I will update if it happens again.
