Default Are these codes related P0400,P0422,P0133

HI, Back from Montreal.
I have an OBD II,
The check engine light came on the 95 850 Turbo,
P0400.....deleted and came on again couple hours later as
P0400.....deleted '
P0133.....deleted '
P0400....deleted '
P0422....deleted '
P0400....deleted '
P0400....
Are any of these code related ? can a defective O2 sensor give me all these different codes?

P.S> The car is now in Montreal, after paying $114 special tax at custom because the car was made in Sweden,$100 because it has air conditionning, Imported vehicle due, $221 and of course the federal tax about $150.
As soon as she receivesthe paperwork from the imported vehicle registry by mail she has to go to a Federal inspection in order to finally get a license plate from Quebec. She will have 30 days to get a Provincial inspection after that.

Thanks AJ

In my country you can't import used cars. Taxes on new cars here are about 50%. A new Honda Civic manufactured/assembled in Brazilcosts about USD 25000 for the high end model with a six shifter. If you want to import it from Japan that will take it up to 30-32K that isif you can get it because Honda does not officially import the Civic from Japan. Only the Accord and the CRV

P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction
P0422 is catalytic converter efficiency intermitent/permanent fault
P0133 is front o2 sensor signal too low intermitent/permanent fault.

I don't think the car will pass emissions testing in Canada.

Hi AJ,

P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction:
OBD-I = 2-4-1

P0422 is catalytic converter efficiency intermittent/permanent fault:
OBD-I = 4-4-3

P0133 is front O2 sensor signal too low intermittent/permanent fault:
OBD-I = 4-3-5 or 4-3-6/Front HO2SSlow Response or Rear HO2S Compensation.

See attached documents, which I will delete within the next few days, or until you have saved them in your PC in which case please notify me.

It seems that the code 4-3-6 is the first to check. Note, that it is not uncommon for those O2 sensors to fail with the age & mileage of 850. Should a replacement is needed, make sure to go with Bosch OEM sensor(s). However, it may also be due to neglected tune-up. 90% of the drivers do not follow the scheduled maintenance, which is the leading cause of break down or worsening of problems. So, before blaming expensive electronic components, check basic components such as spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap & rotor, fuel pressure, air cleaner & hoses, vacuum lines (especially the plastic elbows that are known to go bad), etc...

As to EGR, see if you can clean the EGR valve, or locate disconnected hoses/connectors, etc...

I hope this gets you started. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi AJ,

No, I do not believe those vacuum hoses/elbows are secured with clamps. They are tiny hoses that seem to develop cracks after years of use. If you could provide us with some pics, that would be the best.

Hi AJ,

Sounds like a plan, have fun!

Will wait for your update.

Kanji/JPN

P.S: I've been to Montreal for twice and the city is probably the most beautiful one I've ever seen (with great French & Italian restaurants).

Go to China and it's a 100% import tax.

50k USD BMWs here cost 2 mil RMB there (Around 100k USD). But you need to remember that we are talking about Chinese currency so it would be equivilant to one of us having 2 milion dollars.

Here in Argentina the price ends up being 2X whatever the car costs in the USA. Then you have to put up with absolutely absurd cost of spare parts. Considering the salaries, I would say that the relative cost is 6X.
