those who cast stones....
so....
Last night my girlfriend comes over with her two boys. 4 years old and 8 years.
They both can be tough to deal with at times...but the younger one is always a problem.
He doesnt listen to anything he's told.
Where am I going with this?
After dinner the two of them went out to play, and not 2 minutes went by before the older one flies back in the house yelling something that sounded like "...threw...broke...glass...Josh's...Volvo..."
I nearly **** myself.
The kid, who gets in trouble EVERYTIME he picks up rocks (and has already hit a moving car before, luckily they let it slide), picked up a handful of stones from the driveway and smashed the rear window of my 96 850 Wagon. Of course he did this about 4 minutes before a torrential downpour.
Temporary seal? Clear shower curtain from cheapo outlet store. $7.00 + duct tape.
I even found a curtain with tiny black stripes which appear to be the defroster lines when seen at a distance. Ha!
Dealer price for the glass? $700-800 +
Install? $150-200+
No insurance coverage....I could break the little effers hands. Like I said, it's not the first time.
Anyway..since his mother is paying for it, I felt bad and hunted all over at the boneyards. Lucked out and found a whole back hatch (wrong color) for $140. I'm switching the windshield out, and I'll hold onto the back hatch parts in case I need them. Meanwhile...the damn latch is totally bumf$&*cked because theres shards of glass all inside the hatch. Ugh.

Not to give you or your g/f advice on how to raise a child. However it seems like tough love is needed. You might not baby the kid but she does. At least I bet she does.
He will keep doing it over and over again, like you have said. Wait till he is old enough to be put in juvey. He might learn then. After that is jail. I'm sure he will hate that.

you know what bro...if he were mine, the beating he would've gotten would've lasted him a lifetime.
I totally agree with you. Unfort. (or fortunately for him) he's not my kid...and I know the day another man lays a hand on MY KID, will be his last. So till he (the father) is dead and gone....I have to respect that regardless of how usless of a father he is.
And attack away for those of you who don't believe in spanking your kids....
Thats whats wrong with the world today. You have to worry about someone reporting you for spanking your own kids *** after he misbehaves....hence all the idiot kids running around.
Put them on meds. They have ADD, ADHD, etc. etc. etc.
Medicate them so they're zombies because parents don't know how to be parents.
Drives me nuts.

Wow. I have three fantastic adult children ages 30, 28 and 24. I was never much of a disciplinarian, but I have to admit each of them knew my belt could be used for more than holding up my pants. But I never once used the belt on them for something they did. I did use it, very rarely, if they lied about what they did.
She better figure out some way to get the four year old under control. It's going to get worse if she doesn't, and I'm not saying beating him is the answer. Using drugs is probably even more stupid though.

the older one has the LYING problem.
which also makes my blood boil....he doesnt get that it's 10times worse if he lies about whatever it was.
although I must say...the older one has some common sense and respect for me. I'm hoping its just an age issue...although I have SERIOUS doubts. The younger one is downright defiant.

They redid the rear windshield, and it looks ok. Everything that goes through it (brake light, wiper, wiper sprayer, defroster, etc) functions correctly...but the thin plastic trim that runs underneath the rear windshield on the wagon looks shoddy. It's not a smooth line, and is kind of pulling up in areas. Is there any way to fix this? I'm afraid to rip it off because its stuck to the windshielf and I want to wait at least another 2 days before being confident that the seal on the glass itself has set.
Let me know what you think.
