Default Torque Convertor or Solenoid Problem

My wagon has started to have this weird slipping between 10-15mph, auto trans. I would say it has been off and on for the past few months, nothing major maybe once a month. But now the problem has quickly progressed and it will feel like its slipping every time I take it out. I pulled codes and sure enough, the code was 3-2-2 (incorrect gear ratio.) Replaced the PNP switch, problem wasn't fixed. Checked the fluid, bright red and clean but did a drain and fill anyway which didn't solve the problem. I figured it was a matter of time before I got the flashing yellow arrow of death, which happened yesterday. I do recall getting a solenoid related code over a year ago, but I cleared that code and it hasn't returned. My question is how can I determine if it is the TC or one of the solenoids?

From the cars I've seen with that code - An incorrect gear ratio code usually means a clutch is slipping. - Could a solenoid not operate correctly and cause slippage? Don't know. You do have at best a 26 year old transmission in your Turbocharged car - so there's going to be some wear - .
