Towing with an 850 Turbo
Hello all, I own a 95 850 Turbo Wagon, in good condition. It has a manual transmission, which was a factory option here in Canada, and a few mods mostly done by the previous owner, for example a RIP kit, short ram intake with K&N filter. I bought this car for one main reason; it had a trailer hitch on it and I needed something to tow my vintage 1967 Airstream trailer. The 850 has a capacity of 3300 LBS, very good for a car. The trailer weight loaded up is around 2500 LBS, so I'm within my range. Not surprisingly, after driving the Volvo for over a year now I've bocome more of a Volvo enthusiast than an Airstream enthusiast. The car has the OEM trailer hitch, which is quite different than the usual hitches. The ball is not available in different heights. When all hooked up the trailer leans towards the car a bit more than I would like, which places tongue weight on the back of the car. As I cannot adjust the height of the hitch, is there a way to slightly raise the height of the car, for example by changing the springs? This would help level the rig, with less weight pushing down on the back of the car.
