Recently my 850 Turbo (1995) has started not wanting to shift out of 1st gear into 2nd. This only occurs when the vehicle is cold and usually if I just jump in, crank, and go without waiting to warm up. Once a year, I have the transmission flushed and new fluid put in.
When it will not shift into second, I pull over and turn the engine off, restart, and it is fine. Ideas of what is causing this? Transmission is tight and works very well 95% of the time.

it is possible it could bea fluid solenoid within thee transmissing going bad.

 

Got the car cranked today by bypassing the starter solenoid. Attempted to drive it home and would not shift out of first gear. Mechanic first opinion is some kind of neutral switch in the transmission. May be an easy fix. Will keep you posted.
