Default Transmission trouble code

Yesterday my "arrow" started blinking. It wouldn't go off even aftershutting down and restarting. The owners manual says it is a transmission error. The transmission is shifting fine.I get home and figure out I need to look it up using the diagnostic block under the hood (A block, port 1).

I press the button once, and a 323 code which says something about "lock-up" and could be electronic or mechanical failure.

One strange thing, I couldn't get it to clear following the instructions, however the arrow is no longer flashing.

Anyone familiar with this code or clearing them?

John

Sometimes it takes a few times to get it to clear.

Good question. I haven't checked the fluid yet. The PO was quite good about taking the car in every 3000 miles for an oil change (mostly to the quickie places) and I would hope that they were checking it. As far as I know, they are supposed to check all the fluids.

I'm also thinking of doing thefluid change using the coolant lines mentioned either here or on another board.
