Default typical warm up period

I'm pretty sure the stat has failed open in my 94 850gle.
I have bought a replacement stat. Will fit it tomorrow.
The reason I believe it's failed, is quite a long warm up. Although the engine will reach running temp (3 O'clock position), it is only after what I would consider, a longer than usual period of time. Morning temperatures are 0-5 celsius (32-41 degree Fahrenheit).
Can anyone tell me what a typical warm up to running temp would take?
Although I consider the stat to be faulty, I still find myself second guessing.
Any input would be appreciated.

I usually hit normal running temperature, in the conditions you describe, after 5 minutes or so. The heater is starting to blow warmish air after about 1 mile.

Well here is the culprit. The retainer has broken away from it's tabs, therefore failing open.
