I have a 1995 850 GLT sedan, and I would like to attach a roof rack to it. I also happen to have a set of Saab roof bars, and a set of Thule ski clamps that I would like to use with it. These are square bars made by Thule, and branded as Saab. I currently have the clamps that came with them that allowed them to attach to the roof rails on our Saab 9-5 sport wagon.

Does anybody know if there are new clamps or footings that I can buy to put these on my 850 sedan? I'm not sure how the 850 actually allows for a roof rack - does it use gutter clamps or is there a way to bolt the footings right to the car as there is in Saab sedans? The Thule website shows gutter clamps, but I want to make sure there isn't a Volvo specific footing before I buy the generic gutter clamps.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

You might want to email THULE and see if you can just get the Volvo footing. Volvo does have a particular "footing that attached on the inside of the roof/door well

 

Next time you open the door have a look and you'll find that your sedan has a threaded bolt hole at each door, these are for a Thule rack system. Contact Thule, they'll get you the right foot.
