Lightbulb Volvo 850 Basic Oil Change - Video

Changed the oil in my car today and decided to shot a video for those that may need it. This should be the same for Volvo 850, S70, V70 and other Volvo's and cars in general.

Oil changes are so therapeutic! I almost wish synthetic oil didn't last longer so I could change it more often...

Nothing feels better than pouring that honey-colored goodness into my engine.

It would be great if this showed how to remove the engine belly pan.

Why do you need to remove that? It's not in the way of an oil change.

It is on my 93. You can't see the filter at all and the drain would make a big mess once the flow slowed down a bit.
I removed it last night. They are held on by 4-5 quick plastic plug fasteners.
Once it was off everything was accessible.

Toss that thing in the trash. I doubt that piece of plastic would save the oil pan from getting a hole, or the oil filter but who knows, I may be wrong.

Al I can say is that perhaps you have not driven many gravel back roads. I rather have that thing on because the 6 or even 12" rock you hit by accident will be deflected by it and not break your oil pan or other vital part.
The damage it has already suffered is more than enough proof for me to keep it. The motor still looks good with no scrapes, gouges or cracks from anything.
