Default Volvo 850 Testing ECT Sensor Wiring

I recently replaced the ECT sensor (from ipdusa) on my 1996, Volvo 850 Turbo. The engine warmed up sooner and ran nicer. Few days later the Engine Check Light came on. A scan test revealed ECT sensor as the source of the problem. Before I buy another one from a Volvo dealer, I would like to check the wiring of the sensor to the ECU. I have already cleaned the connector.

What is the process to do a continuity test on the sensor wiring?

Did you also replace the thermostat?
If you had just bought the sensor wouldn't it be under warranty?

I had replaced the Tstat about 7 months ago. Yes, it has warranty on it. I replaced the sensor with one purchased from a Volvo dealer. So far so good.

Unfortunately just because a part is new doesn't mean it is trouble free. SOunds like that is what you encountered. Glad it is working well now

Except for removing one of the Tstat housing T40 torx bolt, replacing the ECT is relatively simple on the 850s. A tool from sear came in handy while removing the bolt.
